Beauty Talk

“We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

If you’re anything like me, you don’t think the best about yourself. You don’t think you’re anything special. And you limit your true potential because you have a negative view of yourself. Well, we all have days like that, but we can’t stay that way. There is a true beauty inside you that is meant to shine. But it has to start with you. God has already put this beauty in you, but you have to live it.

So what do you think about yourself? I hope you think that you are an amazing, wonderful, beautiful princess, full of gifts that only God has given you.  And why wouldn’t you think that? After all that is what Psalm 45:10-17 says: “For the King will greatly desire your beauty, He is your Lord, worship Him.”

It’s not wrong to think this way; our King and Father believes this way, and wants us to use our beauty and gifts in a way that honors Him. When we have a negative view of ourselves, we are telling our King that He messed up when He created us, or that we’re not as special and wonderful as we should be. No matter what it is about yourself that you don’t like, God purposely made you that way (unless you’re talking about a specific sin, of course, that’s different). But if you’re feeling negative about your outward beauty, personality traits, or what have you do or do not have, remember this: God loves you for you. He doesn’t love the dressed-up version of you any more than the just-rolled-out-of-bed version. He doesn’t care about how good you do or do not look in that little black dress. He doesn’t care if you have short hair or long hair, whether you have freckles or clear skin. He loves you as you are.

God is a  perfect God. He is a perfect Father. He can do no wrong. So guess what? That means that, in Christ, you are perfect just the way you are! Yep, you, right now, are a perfect Creation of the Lord!

So what abilities has God given you? Whatever they are, you should use them for His glory. I hope that you will give everything you’ve got for Him. Because of Christ’s redeeming grace, we are His perfect Creations. Let’s live like it!
